Russian legislation allows full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students of educational institutions with state accreditation to work without a work permit.
However, this option is only available during the period of study. Thus, an undergraduate or postgraduate student is obliged to submit a certificate from the educational institution to the employer and update it every semester.
An employer is obliged to submit a notification of the conclusion of a labor contract with a foreign citizen within three days and of termination for any reason within the same period.
Undergraduate and postgraduate students studying full-time in educational institutions with state accreditation can obtain a special permit for temporary residence for the purpose of study. This status allows to work without a work permit for the whole period of study and does not require additional certificates. In the future, it is possible to re-issue the temporary residence permit into a permanent and indefinite residence permit.
